Benefits of Working in an Anonymous Society

In an anonymous society, people are not only safe but they have a much better quality of life. When you live in an anonymous society, you know that your personal identity and actions do not affect the way you are perceived by others.

People who work or lead in an anonymous society are responsible for their personal identity and actions because they can find out who they are. An anonymous society can make people think more creatively and open to a variety of experiences. People who work in such an environment are more committed to building an identity and promoting it among the group.

The benefits of working in an anonymous or private world is that the pressure to succeed and to be an individual is removed. If you make a mistake or lose a game of poker or soccer, then there is no feeling of shame or guilt. There is no public humiliation involved in a failure. Failure is viewed as part of the learning process and is a learning opportunity.

Anonymous people in a private and anonymous society are much less prone to rebellion and to taking unnecessary risks than those who operate in a more public or popular atmosphere. People in an anonymous society want to win and are risk averse and tend to be more conservative and traditional in their views of behavior.

But the benefits of working in private societies are also magnified in a private sector setting. There is no company whose image is held up for public consumption and the reality of a failure is not broadcast on TV. No one can tell you to your face that you are a failure or that you need to do something differently.

An interesting personal note is that anonymity keeps people honest. People working in an anonymous society are more motivated to improve their position because they have no one to blame. Another benefit of anonymity is that people in private societies do not complain about the amount of satisfaction they get in a job and thus do not try to increase their output to make themselves feel better.

Yet another benefit of working in a private society is that if someone does make a mistake, there is not the fear of public ridicule and no individual guilty of making a mistake can be stripped of his or her dignity by social sanctions. This self-protecting system is indeed a benevolent society. It does not bully those who fail.

Thus, the benefits of working in an anonymous society are many. We have all heard the argument that working in an anonymous society is not as productive as working in a public one. But if we truly think about what is good about working in an anonymous society we realize that it is far better than working in a public one.
