Reforms in Mallorca

In the ancient tradition of Maran, which is the religion of the locals of Mallorca, there are many different religions and belief systems that are practiced. The religion of the locals is a mix of several, Jewish and Roman Catholic traditions mixed with elements of several other beliefs. For example, the most important religion of the community is Santa Ponsa, also known as St. Francis. Santa Ponsa is the patron saint of Mallorca and is considering a Saint for all who come to him. The local culture, as well, reflects this rich heritage by having a number of important museums, churches and even the Santa Ponsa Memorial Fountain. Reforms in Mallorca have been carried out since the 12th century. Unlike the majority of other communities, the residents of Mallorca, the capital of the Canary Islands, do not practice a form of dogmatic Christianity. In fact, the majority of the population in Mallorca are Christians with only one percent or less being practicing traditional religions. One of the more prominent Reforms in Mallorca is the sect known as the Islamic Fundamentalism. Unlike most Reforms in the Caribbean, this sect is very conservative and does not entertain change, especially since it feels that human beings should remain as they are. Although there are several hundred members of this Islamic sect in Mallorca, there are no available mosques in the area.

Reforms in Mallorca include Roman Catholicism, though the Catholic Church does not have a permanent presence in the island. As of the time of this writing, there are approximately half a dozen authorized churches in the area and another dozen or so Unitarian or vegetarian churches. Most are located on the main island of Mallorca, though there are a few scattered outlying settlements. Some have managed to settle into a new lifestyle, or have been absorbed by the larger community of residents. One prominent convert to Catholicism in Mallorca was Cardinal Antonio Lopes, who is now the archduke of Burgundy.

A major thrust of Reforms in Mallorca nowadays relates to education. Several schools including the Catholic School, the High School of Education, the University of Mallorca, and a private school, the Center for Integral Human Sciences, have been set up. All of them provide both primary and secondary educational levels. An interesting initiative by the Mallorca government is the establishment of an integrated education system involving local state and federal agencies, the Catholic Church, and a small business that bring together students from different backgrounds and integrate their education systems.

Another prominent Reform movement is that of the formation of a santa panarchy. This system allows local communities to elect a resident from their midst as a representative of the community at national and international levels. The representative may not hold any office, but is entitled to vote at elections. Santa Ponsa is a Democrat in terms of party system but is still used as the prime mover behind various movements and reforms. Its prime function is to provide leadership for various commissions, such as the Presupuestos Commission (for economic development), the Estancipe de Estancipe (for housing and employment), and the Coordinadora de Administrazierta (for health care).

Reforms in Mallorca have had some success since they were first introduced. Overall, they have improved standards of living and increased political participation. A notable example of a Reform success story is the adoption in 2002 of the Individual Health Insurance Plan (IHOIP). This plan covers the costs of both personal and group health care by offering discounted fees for those who purchase individual health insurance policies.
